  • Interview(s) Complete

So as I’m waiting for the interview from the CA place, I get a call from a recruiter that contacted me a month ago about my TCC expertise, now he wants to submit me for a position. Oh well when it rains it pours. I had the interview that was planned and it seems like it’s more of an admin assistant position. I blew through it because, it turned out it didn’t really have anything to do with data analytics. Oh well, we’ll see what happens next week, this weekend I’ll just enjoy life and let tomorrow take care of itself.

  • Sad Day Times 2

It’s getting warm here in Texas. Sandy and I did our grocery shopping today, went to Kroger and shopped the sales and then to Walmart for staples like milk, cheese and lunch meat.

We came home and decided to jump on the bikes and head over to the mall to get steps, people watch and grab a bite for lunch. We walked the mall and found ourselves in the food court having Chic-fil-A. I was checking out Facebook and we were stunned to see we lost a classmate. Wendy (Dittman) Lipinski died of a brain tumor at 51. While I didn’t know her, I’d been in classes with her and my memory of her is that she was very quite. A nice person who I didn’t really know, and reading her obituary made me sad that I didn’t know her better.

While Sandy and I were reading the comments, it was revealed another friend from high school in our class had also passed. Kelly (Farley) Games just passed yesterday, it’s still too early for that obituary. That one struck closer to home as Kelly and I had actually talked (messaged) recently enough and I knew her. She celebrated her only sons 20th birthday just last week at Red Lobster. She’d been married to Mike for just over 3 years. She’d recently been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time and just started chemo 4 days ago after a battle with her insurance to get started on it. She had said the side effects didn’t kick in until day 3 and she was in a lot of pain.

Sandy and I came home kind of stunned and then held each other while we both cried. There was a horrible realization that life is finite and that it ends without much warning.

  • Tiller Drained

I drained the gas out of the tiller since I believe we’re done with it for the season. It was a beautiful day and Sandy and I went for a 12 mile bike ride around Hurst. I’ve decided I’m going to take my picture in front of all the parks in the city. So I got 3 of the parks knocked out.

Tomorrow is the eclipse and unfortunately it looks to be cloudy, but it’s nothing I’m going to lose sleep over. We’ll see how it goes.

  • Recalls Complete

While I love my truck, the closest Ram dealership leaves a bunch to be desired. I finally got hold of them and they actually had the parts in stock to fix the last two of four recalls that were left. So I’m completely up to date.

It was kind of cool in that they took a video of everything and the only thing that needed done was some stuff like brake/steering fluid drain/flush and an alignment. All things that can wait for the new job to kick in.

  • Retail Therapy

I started the day at the gym, it was a nice morning so after a 30 minute walk, I took the long way back to the truck by the Hurst river. It was pretty, with all the rain we’ve had it was flowing and it was nice to hear the waterfall.

On rare occasion, I do/need retail therapy. My retail therapy is relatively cheap, I started at Ollie’s where they have ‘good stuff cheap’. I don’t really buy a lot, I mostly shop and make mental note of where cheap stuff is. Ollie’s has it for car wash stuff and painting supplies. I did find hooks I’ve been needing for the storage shed half the price I’d pay at Lowe’s so yey for me. Finished up by heading to Aldi’s and shopping there, more cheap stuff and it’s eatable.

Finished off the evening by burning the dead wood that I packed into the burn barrel, beautiful night for it.

  • Lazy Day

We were due for some rain today so I got up early and got some stuff done and even had breakfast. Did some work on podman and Sandy and I walked the mall to get some steps. It was a nice lazy day and I hope to get some more done tomorrow.

  • Last Groundwork Proceeding

Made it to the gym this morning for another 5k start to the day, that’s 5,000 steps not the 3.1 miles. Came home and took a nap. Got up but didn’t feel like doing much of anything but I finally got up and got Sandy to go to Walmart to get Spackle as we’re painting the master bedroom at some point.

Got home and we went for a bike ride (Sandy had a rider) and when I got home I started the process of cleaning up the last area that needs to be bricked. Hopefully I can make quick work of it as it’s going to rain on Thursday. PaiWei for dinner, way too many carrots for my tastes but the chicken was good.

  • Monday 6mo + 3

So as the old saying goes, nothing changes if nothing changes. So today it was back to a bit of a routine. Made it to the gym at 5:30ish am and had all three rings closed by 6:30 am. I got home and got my USA Jobs profile set up and was going to apply to the IRS position but got side tracked on if I have enough statistic credits from school. Did get an app sent in for a CA company for data scientist intern. Will do Workday tomorrow hopefully.

Got home around 7 am and woke Sandy up. She had exercise class at 8:30 am so I told her I’d hold off until 9:30 for breakfast. I really enjoyed sauteing the mushrooms, I do like cooking.

  • Lazy Sunday

We didn’t get a whole bunch done today but we had a good time. It rained and it does that so infrequently that it’s so nice when it does. Between showers we got to take a bike ride and found the most beautiful wisteria that’s in the parking lot of my dentists office.

  • 6 Months Anniversary

Today, it’s been six months since I left ThinkTalent. That means that it’s time to go back to work. I’ll be back in the office for 9-2-5 come Monday and start looking for work in earnest as well as finishing up the RHEL certification training. It’s been amazing to have the time off but it’s time to find the next gig to get me to the next level.

Today I tried the dough program on the bread maker and we got edible bread. While it still doesn’t look like what you’d expect it works. We’ll try if for French bread medallions for breakfast tomorrow and see. This is good progress.

Also got a 5 mile bike ride between the rain, love the smell after a rain, smells clean:)
