  • Lost Hour on a Sunday

Let me start by saying I’m not much for one listening to people belly aching about the loss of an hour. Suck it up buttercup, it’s not like you didn’t know it was coming. Spend an hour less on the phone and it’ll be ok.

I went over to sisters and did some tree cutting, it was nice to help her get what she wanted done. I worry about mom but from what I saw, I think her thoughts are fine but she has trouble with the words. That’s so much better than not understanding.

  • Life is Pretty Amazing

It got colder today, we can honestly say it got back to normal temps today. I did get a chance to roll for another ride today despite the colder temps. It was an introspective ride as my better half wasn’t there. Loved the dumpster called sweet dumps in pink! Also included are pictures of the old Mason lodge and a cab at a poor folk apartment. Years ago that medallion meant you’d have a good life.

I’m a little off when Sandy isn’t here, I need a foil to my brunt personality. I’m a better person when I think of her.

  • Beautiful Day for a Ride

The thing that the eBike brings to the table is a consistent ride. I still pedal, but if I’m going uphill, I use pedal assist and it’s like level ground. So 10 miles isn’t really that much of a workout BUT it’s an amazing exploration that you just can’t do any other way. I work my way down roads that are blocked off for cars, trails that are for dirt bikes, and back roads that get you nowhere quick but still get you there.

It does harken back to a day when my world was defined by how far my bike could take me. It was a single speed and the breaks were engaged by back peddling. Over the years, (of course), I have widened my horizons but there’s something about being able to explore the world on a bike.

Also got the friggin tire for the RV taken care of. I should have my head examined for not going to Discount Tire for the RV but we’re golden for now…

  • Airport Run

Sandy left for MA today. Her mom’s birthday is on Saturday and we were going to blow the 2k on fuel to go up and visit but there were no obvious RV places available. Odd but true.

We left the house at about 5am and got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. BUT, I had a bit of an issue, as we were pulling up to the drop off point, there was a car that moved forward so I stopped and honked to let him out, the little prick didn’t move, did a hard right (right behind a cop) in front of this prick and Sandy said “I’ve got this” but I couldn’t help myself.

I went out and helped her with her things with the damn car lights right on us. After she left I walked over to the idiot and asked him, ‘you couldn’t move forward’. Like the spineless prick he was he said ‘uhh’ and I said don’t worry about it you idiot. Got into my truck and drove home.

If you are an idiot, I will let you know.

  • Yard Cleanup & Camping Prep

We started the day at exercise class. We won’t be back for class on Thursday and Friday as we’re going to be heading to Dinosaur Valley State Park for a couple of days. It’ll be great weather so we should have a rocking time. I also picked up a couple of sheets of plywood and 2 2x2x8 for making a crate for the eBikes. Hopefully, that will make it easier to transport and make them rain-resistant. More information on that as the creation and build continue & pictures of the park coming soon.

  • Dirt Bike Pick Up

So our friend Jen left her dirt bike here when she left because there just wasn’t room. I had completely forgotten about it when out of the blue I was compelled to ask my wife about it, after some gumshoe work, it turns out the bike was still here and still in need of being reunited with the title holder. Since we had nothing going on, we volunteered to get it.

It’s a nice bike and my only lament is that the bike is exactly what I wanted some 40 years ago and as neat as it seems right now the fatal flaw is that I would hurt myself on a machine like that. Very badly I fear. Sigh, I’ll stick with the eBike, it may not be as cool but it’s much cheaper and has no engine to contend with.

  • Change in the Weather

It got cold again. That’s okay, it’s probably the last blast of winter and while I’m no huge fan of cold weather, it’s certainly cheaper to heat a house than it is to cool it.

Was super excited that I figured out how to put music on my watch and then hook my headphones up to my watch via Bluetooth. This allows for unencumbered running at the rec center. It feels good to push as hard as you can for a tenth of a mile and get the heart moving. It’s a game to see how high you can get your heart rate up to. I can usually get it in the 150s. And let’s face it, I start having a heart attack, what better place to do so? It would probably take only a couple of minutes to be found and 911 called, the ambulance knows exactly where the rec center is and it is only 1.5 miles away in a straight shot.

We’re off to get a dirt bike tomorrow. Jen’s old boyfriend still had her dirtbike and for whatever reason I reminded Sandy who reminded Jen and now we’re on recovery detail. Should be interesting.

  • Perot Museum Field Trip

The KC Chiefs are the Superbowl champs and it was a nail-biter of a game. I was happy about the outcome. While the 9ers were an amazing football team through the season, they just haven’t paid their dues. A big payment was made last night and they’ll be back.

Sandy and I went to exercise class today and then came home, got changed, and went to the Bell Station to catch the train to Dallas to see the Perot Museum. It was nice although a little cold walking from Victory Station to the museum. The museum was nice, I’m not sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t anything that blew me away. I learned a couple of things. There were a lot of kids there and I had to calm myself and remember that this place is actually for them to hopefully create a spark for the love of science and STEM. But they’re still annoying.

We had lunch there, chicken strips and fries with a large soft pretzel with cheese. Nothing to write home about and the best thing was the ranch LOL. On the way back we noticed there were a lot of homeless that hang out on the train. Nothing scary but makes you think.

  • Superbowl Sunday LVIII

Ah, another Superbowl Sunday. This was an excuse to party in years gone by but like most of those other drinking holidays, this one has faded too. I still don’t understand why the game hasn’t been moved to Saturday. They should have done that for 50 and then on. But it’s the audience that would benefit most from that as it really doesn’t matter to the teams, they’re both off the next day no matter what day it is. It’s KC vs 49ers this year. I’ll be rooting for KC as I dig their vibe this year. I like the TK & TS angle and thought that Brittany’s SI rookie shoot was pretty wow. Conversely, 9ers are just too ‘golden’, need to rub some dirt on their jerseys and pay some more dues. And this game will be one of those dues. Go Chiefs!!!

  • Getting Old Is No Fun

Starting exercise class yesterday along with planting the trees left me physically exhausted so we took today off and did inside stuff. I’m happy that we got the plants in but boy, I forgot how much work it can be. Oh well, it’s nice to take time and do nothing. Back at it tomorrow.
