  • Rocking The Yardwork

Got some tree and shrub trimming done today, it turned out to be a lot more than I was thinking it would be, by the time it was all said and done with I think I had six bundles of limbs, a contractor bag stuffed and a regular yard bag filled too. Then I got the closet sanded and mudded with a larger knife. It’s looking good and I think I should be able to sand and paint tomorrow. It could use another coat of mud but it’s looking good and it’s the stinking closet.

But the east side of the property is cleaned up and should be good for the rest of the summer.

I also got into the RV and started cleaning it up and out. I took out all the food that was still in there and threw it out, there’s nothing there that can’t be replaced and I don’t trust what’s in there. The premise of the RV is that it could be on the road with minimal notice in order to get us to where we needed to be and give us shelter when we get there. That’s primarily in case something should go south with Sandy’s parents. We could be there in 21/30 hours respectively but I need to make sure the RV is road worthy. It’s been sitting since we got back from out central plains trip last labor day. We’ll get there.

  • Break From Blogging

I’m not sure how it happened, but it’s been over a week since I last blogged. I guess I just needed a break from trying to think of things to write about. Things are going well enough. I’ve started with the AI prompt class. I’m kind of amazed at how bad my attention man is. I find my mind wandering as I read through a paragraph to the point where I have to start over when I get to the end of it because I started thinking about something else halfway through. Hopefully that is something I can work on and get back because I have a few other study points that I need to attack after I finish this AI class.

I had today off, not my choice, but it was a federal holiday. Wow I really enjoy having the time off, I’d rather be working since I actually have things to do. Oh well, I started getting ready to mow the lawn just before 8 AM. I finished up just after 9 AM. I was pouring sweat even at that early hour, but I got the front yard and backyard. Mowed trimmed and edged. I was also kind of excited today since it was the first day that I’ve had two days in a row weighing in at under 190 pounds. I’m excited since that’s 10 pounds and I’ve only got 20 to go.

The dog days of summer appeared to be with us now. While the temperature itself hasn’t spent a whole bunch of time over 100°, it’s been very humid. Meaning the feels like temperature has been into the hundreds. But it is June and for all intents and purposes, it’s summer in Texas so you would hardly expect anything else.

  • 80% Complete

The week is 80 percent complete. I’m excited that the week is coming to a conclusion. I’ve been dealing with documentation and I’m never happy doing that. There’s a reporting warehouse that needs to put together and I’m hoping I can find some examples in my old work.

I’ll get some work done on the back room this weekend, we should be able to knock it out, well mostly, this weekend. I’ll work on that tomorrow evening when the ball game is on. I need to pick up some stuff from Lowe’s or HD. I think there’s a flooring caulk that can fill the gaps that I have in the closet, it’s not my best work but then again, it’s in the closet.

So mom and Ron took off for Erie today. Evidently it was kind of unexpected and mom called sister crying. I’m not sure why as they were planning on leaving this weekend anyway so a couple of days early shouldn’t have caused major issues.

It’s fathers day this Sunday. No plans for the day, my dad is dead, my friends are going to be busy, I’m going to enjoy my day off. Well off to bed and on to the weekend!!!

  • Food Stock Up

I blew $55 on the sales at Tom Thumb. Got 5.5 pounds of ground beef, 2 racks of St. Louis style ribs, a couple of packages of Nathan’s hot dogs, 24 count of 20oz Gatorade, some BBQ sauce and a couple cans of baked beans. Oh and honey and corn on the cob. I was impressed on the savings and I’m guessing I got $30 off the order for making it online. I’m happy, it all got into the freezer and is properly labeled with dates so there’s no more mystery meats in the freezer.

I also made 1800 miles on the eBike today. I don’t think that Sandy cares much for riding anymore. I think that she’s just bored of riding around here, when we can get back on the road and camped out she’ll be back into it. I do need to get a camper shell, that’s in the future but wow they’re expensive.

Well tomorrow is Friday eve and I’ve got a good glide path into the weekend. It’s been rainy, I mean I’m loving it but it’s the middle of June and I was actually chilly on my bike ride. I loved it but it’s odd at this time of year. Oh well, they’re going to turn on the oven sometime. LOL, just looked and it starts Friday…

  • Rainy Tuesday Afternoon

Good day today, got some things done and am almost done with the documentation that I love so much. I closed out all positions except for the 100 Pintrest shares. I’m going to take a break and learn a little more, I need to be able to create a stop loss and stop profit actions and then do some research. I’m still going to jump Joby on its next down slide.

I’m happy today, life is good.

  • Monday Down

At work today, they were going through the first day of go live. I missed 55 messages related to the go live over the weekend. None of them were for me so it’s not like I really missed them. And I didn’t hear anything about anything I built so I’m guessing that no news is good news. I’ve been doing this long enough that I know what I’m doing. Although I’m getting older and sometimes I wonder.

As I was cutting the drywall for fixing the closet, I drew a little diagram and measured and put my measurements in and cut the drywall. I somehow wrote 13.5 when it should have been 18, I have no idea how that happened. I’ll have to cut one more small piece but still, could have done it the first time.

I’m sleepy today, I couldn’t sleep very well last night. I guess I was half excited for the storm. I’ve also been a little anxious I guess, I’m not sure where things are going or how they are going to get there. And I started paying attention to my investing account, that’s nothing but nerve wracking to be sure.

Oh, I also figured out how to use the big screen TV in the office as an extra monitor to watch tutorials and such that’s being streamed. The Linux box has a wireless mouse and keyboard so I can sit on the couch and learn. We’ll see how that goes.
I also started the class for AI prompt training. We’ll see if I can knock a class out and learn something about AI even though I’m not super thrilled about it. I guess I’m getting older and I’ve been learning about technology for so long, it’s just kind of boring. Oh well, it’s not much of a cross to bear.

Life is good folks, keep looking to the future and living in the moment!

  • Progress made on a Sunday

Well, I didn’t have the momentum that I did yesterday, I still made some good progress today. It started off by cleaning up the back room closet and the wires in networking components that live there. It’s not like I have a routed switch or anything like that, and I only have four network lines going out. I couldn’t even tell you where they’re going to, but I’m assuming they’re necessary. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have plugged them in. That took about 45 minutes all told. In that time, AT&T managed to text me to tell me that my internet router was offline. That was kind of nice of them, even though completely unnecessary in this particular situation. It’s all kind of hanging by a chain in the components that are actually sitting on a ladder. That gives me ample room to get to the north side of that closet to do what I need to do.

We went over to Mom’s today to wish them a safe trip as they’re taking off for Erie next weekend. We showed up a little late as they were already in full swing on working on outdoor stuff. So we only hung around for about 15-20 minutes. Then, I did a little bit of retail therapy at Harbor Freight. I got new blades for the saber saw, two new Sanders that go with the Harbor Freight batteries as well as an oscillating tool. I also got Snap Ring Pliers, so I should have everything to replace the ball joints on the Xterra. I still don’t know if I want to farm that job out or not.

When we got home I put the oscillating tool to work squaring up the hole in the closet. It was very rough when I started but now I have square dimensions as well as 2x4s to to screw into. I need to do a couple more of those but all told I’m happy with the progress. Next steps are to get the drywall from the garage and cut it to fit and then mount it. I’ll have to Mud it all in too, but I’m hoping by the end of next weekend to have a completed.

  • A Tree Was Planted

Waxing philosophical about planting a tree in the front yard, I feel like I should have done it a while ago but I didn’t know what to plant but when we went to Arbor Daze and I got a couple of free trees, as much as I hate the way the live oak looses it’s leaves in the spring, I think I would have hated it more had I got a tree that shed the leaves in the fall so I’d have to rake for about half the year. I planted it in the front and I have another one I can plant in the back.

Got a lot done today, pulled out the truck and cleaned out the bed as well as washed it off. I cleaned the garage and replaced the garage LED lights that had flickered out. I didn’t think LED lights were supposed to go out but I don’t think the old ones lasted more than three years. The new ones came from Vevor, we’ll see how long they last. I still need to do something about the thermal camera I got from them.

Also have made some good progress on the back room. I just need to relocate the internet and TV signal while I make the fixes to the wall in the closet. Shouldn’t be too hard but it felt like a wall. We’re watching beetlejuice beetlejuice this evening and just chilling on the couch. 12k steps today and I didn’t leave the house, that’s a bunch of walking around here.

  • Finally Friday

Again, it’s Friday, thank God. It was a little stressful because there was a sudden rush to last minute test the integrations and then add some changes to archive the encrypted files. But it looked like there may be some issues but there weren’t and everything seems to be working fine. I also finished the documentation except for the last one but it’s done just needs a bit of editing. I’ve also got another project starting Monday so hopefully there’s more I can do to assist them.

It’s going to be hot this weekend so I’m planning on working on the back room since we have everything we need for it. I do have an issue in that the internet and TV come in there and I’ll probably have to shut that down while I do the repairs or actually reroute it so that it works because it’s going to be a couple of days to patch, mud, sand, and paint. We can get it into a workout room inside of a week.

We also are getting a new to us couch from the Mason’s. It’s a gray queen size sleeper sofa. We’re getting rid of the brown one that I’ve had since at least 2004. It’s a lot of history there, dad decided enough was enough on this couch, it’s where he waited to die. It’ll be good to be rid of it. Thank goodness it’s the weekend!!!

  • Loan Paid in Full

It’s done, the last outstanding loan I have is paid in full. House, cars, RV… All paid off. I also got back to even on my trading account. It’s looking up, it may not be long before there’s some land in our portfolio. That reminds me I need to file the annual report for Sarondy LLC, the joys of owning a business.

A Facebook friend of mine had a heart attack. I knew him from college, he lost his father about a year ago or so and I think was divorced a handful of years ago. Fortunately he’s alright and seems none the worse for ware, but that’s a huge deal that creates sudden and permanent changes in your lifestyle and habits. But it’s a second chance, one that another friend of mine didn’t get.

As we know I’m already kind of paranoid about dying, this really isn’t helping. But I am taking better care of myself than I ever have. I took my blood pressure for the first time in months and it’s 105/66 with a pulse of 73. My average sleeping heart rate is 64 bpm. My last blood test had nothing out of range. I’m a little heavy but I’m working on it. I’m doing what I can. Part of me wonders why it took so long to get here. I guess it happened when it was supposed to happen. And I have to understand my end will come exactly when it’s supposed to, not a moment too early and not a moment too late. Ugh, at least I can say it.

Also today, Donnie Dipshit and executive brown noser Musk had a very public breakup, I mean Taylor Swift is probably writing a song about this as we speak. Musk called DD a pedophile which is his go to top line insult when you think about it. It’s fucking unbelievable to the United States has a felon, rapist, con man as a president, what a joke.
