  • Post-Surgical Follow-Up

I had my follow up today and everything checks out. I have one more on Wednesday with the PCP and I believe this should be behind us. I’m still a little sore at the incision site but other than that I’m good. They set me up with enough pain meds that it’ll be two-weeks post surgery so I should be golden by then.

I still have not received a bill for this fiasco, it’s probably still going to be awhile. Oddly enough this year I happen to have ‘golden’ insurance and it happens to be the first time I’ve needed it in the forever I’ve paid in but not used. We’ll see how it works out.

  • Extra Hour

This is the weekend that we set the clocks back. I think we need to figure out how to get an extra hour in every weekend. I got everything I really wanted to get done today and still and still have some time to kill. I like that.

Got to watch the LoserBoys play in SuckVille today, Where they really sucked and left with a record of 3 wins and 5 losses on the season. Crazy how bad they are.

Tomorrow I have a follow up to hopefully remove the drain that’s still in place from the appendectomy, that will get me a long way to feeling normal.

  • Frozen Blueberry’s

In my on-going quest for better nutrition, I’m trying to get more fruits and vegetables but fresh isn’t always an option. Take the humble blueberry. Tasty, good for you but seasonal. But I can get a big bag of great value frozen blueberry’s and for the most part they’re not bad. Ideally thaw them in the fridge but in a pinch you can thaw in water and drain.

This makes the packet blueberry muffin’s into something fairly special and quite yummy. They also make pancakes tolerable with the fruitiness.

I’m going to check out some of the of the other offerings also, they include:
    Frozen Strawberries
    Frozen Blueberries
    Frozen Pineapple
    Frozen Bananas
    Frozen Mango
    Frozen Raspberries
    Frozen Cherries
    Frozen Blackberries

This could be a boon for the homemade yogurt idea and that’s on the good list too.

  • TGIF Again

We made it to Friday and while I’m still on the mend, I’m hurting a bit. Hopefully a weekend of rest and removal of this tube means I can get a real shower and feel human again. This clean top/bottom half separately is not fun. But I guess I’m not doing bad considering where I could be.

Sandy and I went out to Babe’s for lunch today, it was $20 apiece but it was good, I had the chicken friend steak and it really hit the spot. Loved the mashed potatoes but Sandy thought that they tasted too starchy. It was yummy in my honest opinion.

It was nice and cool today, but I was stuck inside. Still nice that fall temperatures are making a showing.

  • Pre-Friday & Work is Work

I slept most of yesterday evening and night, I was out. But it’s ok, I needed to heal. I did get work done and ran into issues, I’m working on what’s actually going on but I had to sigh, this was a query that’s been used dozens of times and now it’s just causing the system to spin, it wasn’t always like this, I remember it actually worked at one time. Although it does make me happy that this won’t be what I’m doing for next year. I do need to figure that out though…

It’s Halloween and I’m not sharing my candy with kids. So I took one of the workhorses and blocked off the porch, they got the hint and we’ve had no knocks.

Mom came over for lunch today, it was nice to see her and she brought tacos and I had grape soda, yummy and probably the most I’ve eaten since the surgery. I think that I’m on the road to recovery but my digestive system is still untrusted to say the least. We’ll see how those tacos run though and I have broccoli and blueberries queued up for tomorrow. Hopefully good fiber…

  • Voting Day

I had to go get my molar caps put on this morning at 8am. That took about an hour and then I went out and voted. No line at all, just walked up, got my ballot, voted and left, the whole process was maybe 5 minutes.

Got home and had to put the new laptop in a place where I could use it and then I got connected and started work. I made it about 30 minutes before I had to take lunch which included a 2 hour nap.

Got more work done this afternoon and managed to forget my meds at 3pm. I took a Tylenol and Advil and I’ll make it until 9pm and then go to bed.

I realize that the drugs are good at taking away the pain but they also take away any motivation. But it won’t be too much longer before they’re done and the tube is out and I can work on getting back into shape.

  • Need to Take it Easier

I took the trash out last night and I hurt because of it. And I found out today that I don’t get the drain taken out until 11/4. Ugh. Well nothing to do but live with it. And I found that the kitchen sink is best for hair and upper body washing while setting up the master bath shower to handle the lower.

Super excited I should get to start what I know how to do at the contract job. It’s been a bit of a struggle to get where we needed to be to move ahead with development. A fish back into water.

Also I got a call from the WiPro company again. I interviewed with them about 6 months ago and they had the audacity to say they were ready for the next round of interviews. I said no and hung up. They called back saying the reason I never heard back was because it was an internal hire. I guess that was supposed to make a difference. I told him strait up I would not work for that company and he finally got it. Although I feel maybe I should have looked into it. But life is too short to do something you don’t love.

  • First Monday Without Appendix

I’ve been home 2 days now and I’m making progress toward healing. I’m a bit worried about my appetite or lack thereof. I’ve had a piece of toast, a piece of bread with peanut butter, a bowl of applesauce, and half a mug of cereal. Not much nutrition for the body to heal. Although I honestly have enough stored in fat that it should be fine.

Started starting the new project continuing from last week. Another computer, this one is worse off because it’s seriously locked down. So now I have 2 laptops from 2 companies for this contract. How many do I need provided for this project? Zero.

  • Still in a Bit of a Daze

After the first night back in my own bed I’m feeling a little better. I’m still sore and sick and my digestive system is a mess but everything seems to be going forward and that’s where we need it to be.

I did run to the store today for some supplies, I probably should have sent Sandy but I was irked probably because of the pain and discomfort.

Looks like the Cowboys season is tanked. I watched the game in hopes that they would show some spark but they didn’t and they won’t. The football gods won’t forgive Jerry and that’s that. Also I heard that they give tours of the practice facility while they are working out. I don’t know if this is the same across the NFL but I’d be pretty disturbed if there was one way glass in the weight room and it was my job to lift weights. It almost makes it like a zoo. Although no one has offered me millions to life weights, maybe I wouldn’t mind so much.

  • Rewind – Recovery Day

So this day started off after the night from hell. It’s Friday and I’m hoping that I get to go home today but I’m sure that it’s not to be. Still too new and found out the procedure wasn’t a simple cut and snip as the appendix was perforated. Sandy came by and I have power and computer and Switch so I should be able to pass the time well enough. Also it looks like I’m moving off the second floor to the third floor. That led to the only unfortunate incident. I had what was left with an empty IV bag and line, they told me I was going to move and I needed to pack so I thought that I could take the line out. Turns out I could BUT should is another matter.

Evidently without a complete circuit the blood back flows from the vein. Mia Culpa.

The move happened and settle in hoping tomorrow will be the day.

I don’t like being in the hospital at all, but it’s not a vacation spot, you are there because there’s no other place that you can get fixed.
